There are 14 districts in Kerala. All the Kerala Districts are are as follows
Kasargod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palghat, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, Alleppey, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvanthapuram
Some of the prominent tourist locations in each district are listed below.
Kasargod district : Bekal Fort is located, which is an important tourist location in North Kerala is located in this district.
Wayanad district : Edakkal caves which is a pre-historic site for cave painting is located here.
Kozhikode district : Kappad beach which is located in this district is the place where Vasco da Gama first reached in India. An international airport is situated here.
Malappuram district : Nilambur Teak museum is located in this district
Palghat district: Nelliampathy hill station is located in this district.
Thrissur district : Athirapaly waterfalls is located in this ditrict
Ernakulam district : Fort Kochi beach is a major tourist attraction in this Kerala district. Thattekkad bird sanctuary is also located in this disrict. Both airport and seaport are also located here. Cruise liners carrying tourists from abroad also come here. This airport is also the entry point for many tourists coming to Kerala
Idukki district : Munnar Hill station and Thekkady wild life sanctuary are located in Idukki district
Alleppey : The best place for Backwaters tourism is located in Alleppey district.
Kottayam District : Kumarakom bird sanctuary and backwaters are important tourist locations.
Pathanamthitta district : Gavi is a tourist location in this district. It is located in the midst of forest area.
Kollam District : Backwaters and a Fresh water lake known as Ashtamudi are major attractions in this district.
Thiruvanthapuram district : Kovalam beach is a major tourist attraction in this district. The capital city Thiruvanathapuram is situated here. This district also has an international airport. Many tourists reach Kerala through this airport.
