Kerala Pilgrim Centres

Sabarimala : Considering the number of pilgrims this is the largest pilgrim centre in Kerala. Pilgrims from many parts of India come here as pilgrims.

Guruvayur : This pilgrim center is situated in Thrissur district of Kerala.  Many pilgrims visit the temple at Guruvayur.  There is also a place in Guruvayoor where it is possible to see about 75 elephants in one place.

Ettumanoor Mahadevar temple : This pilgrim center is located in Kottayam district of Kerala. It is situated very close to Ettumanoor town. The nearest railway station is Ettumanoor railway station.

Kaladi : This is birth place of Adi Shankaracharya who was born around 8th century CE.  Adi Sankara Keerthi Sthampa Mandapam is situated in Kalady town.

Kurishumala : This is a  pilgrim centre is situated on the top of a hill in Kottayam district of Kerala. This is a pilgrim center for Christians and many devotees carry wooden cross to Kurishumala.

Mattanchery Synagogue : This Jewish synagogue was built almost 500 years ago in Mattanchery in Kochi by Jewish traders who were engaged in trading of spices.

Bharananganam : church is a pilgrim centre in Kottayam district of Kerala. Alphonsama who was saint was buried here.

Parumala Church : This pilgrim center is a pilgrim centre for Christians. Here Mar Gregorious who was a saint  was buried here.

Kothamnaglam church : is situated in Ernakulam district of Kerala. Here Eldo Mar Baselious, who travelled from Syria was buried here.

Sivagiri : Sivagiri Mutt is a Hindu pilgrim center situated in Kollam district of Kerala.

Malayatoor : is located in Ernakulam district of Kerala. It is believed that St. Thomas arrived here and prayed on the top of the hill.

Padmanabhaswamy temple : is located in  southern city of Thiruvanathapuram.  Many devotees from many places come here to pray.

Vadakkumnathan temple : This place is situated in the center of Thrissur town. Once every year Thrissur Pooram  festival is conducted here and many people come here for the festival. This festival is also accompanied by fire works and display by elephants.

Vavaru pally Erumely : Many pilgrims on the way to Sabarimala visit this pilgrim center. It is located in the center of Erumely town.
